Sara came back to work for our office in January 2012 after working from home for about 8 years. She wears two hats, one is that of Administrator, helping the doctors manage operations of the practice. The other being that of Financial Director handling the billing and insurance area of the office.
Sara began her training to become a Medical Assistant while still in High School, graduating from Thunderbird High School and Apollo College (now Carrington College) in 1982. For the next seven years, she worked in physician's offices starting as a medical assistant working her way up to Assistant Office Manager in the areas of Primary Care and Ocology.
In 1989, she joined a large Podiatry Clinic as their Office Manager and worked in that capacity until 2002, when she became ill with Leukemia. During her employment there, she went back to school and obtained a Certificate in Health Care Management from Gateway Community College.
In 2003, after a full recovery, Sara joined our office just as we were opening the new Surprise office. She helped to get our office off to a great start handling whatever duties were given to her.
In 2004, due to some complications from the Chemotherapy, Sara decided she needed to work from home and opened up her own Medical Billing Service catering to Podiatry field only. She had a very successful business, at one time having up to 6 employees and over time, servicing 15 different Podiatric Offices in Arizona, Idaho, and New Jersey. While in business for herself, Sara was certified in Podiatry Coding (CPODCS) and a Certified Medical Coding Specialist (CMCS).
Sara lives with her husband, Lyle, their son and her mother. Sara along with her family spend time taking care of her Mother who has some dementia and is a fall risk. Her son who has a degree in both Criminology and Computer technology has chosen to stay at home for now to as well to help. She is an avid animal lover and currently has 3 dogs and 2 cats. She loves to sew and work craft projects in her spare time, and is currently learning how to quilt.
