Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our patients and staff, their loved ones, and the wider community that we all share.
As a provider of essential health services, our office will remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic. You may have foot concerns that simply cannot wait, and by remaining open we’re helping keep our patients out of already overwhelmed hospitals and emergency rooms.
So how are our Arizona podiatrists keeping our own patients safe? One important way is by offering telemedicine services.
Telemedicine Services at Fixing Feet Institute
If you are unable to make an in-person visit to our office, a telemedicine consult can be an excellent choice for many appointment types, including:
- Consult about a dermatological condition (infection, rash, wounds, etc.)
- Reviewing the results of previous labs/tests
- Follow-up visits for treatment are already in progress
During your visit, you and the doctor can have a detailed conversation about your situation—just like an in-person visit. Often, at-home treatment options can be recommended. We can also call in prescriptions as necessary.
How Does It Work?
You don’t need anything special to conduct a telemedicine appointment. Just a device that can make video calls (such as a smartphone) and a stable Internet connection. You’ll also need to download some free software from Zoom, but the process is very simple.
Here’s how to schedule and prepare for your appointment:
- Call the office at (623) 584-5556, press option 1, and schedule an appointment, specifying that you would like a telemedicine visit.
- You should receive an email confirming the appointment, along with a link and meeting ID. If you don’t receive this information, please call our office.
- Start a free Zoom account and download the Zoom app via the link we send to you in the email, or by clicking here anytime.
At the time of your appointment, follow the instructions we send you to enter our “virtual waiting room.” When we’re ready for you, we’ll start the appointment.
What If I Need In-Person Treatment?
Of course, specific treatments and procedures such as X-rays or injections cannot be performed remotely. Certain urgent and emergency situations will still require an in-person visit.
We want to assure you that our team is closely monitoring the situation for updates and is following the strictest guidelines for health and safety. This includes sanitizing all areas and equipment regularly, wearing personal protective equipment, maintaining social distancing to the greatest extent possible, etc.
If you are unsure whether you might need testing or treatment that cannot be conducted remotely, please give us a phone call and ask.
What Does It Cost?
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, most insurers (including Medicare) have relaxed their restrictions and are now fully covering telemedicine consultations. There is no cost to create an account with Zoom or download their software to your device, either.
