Depending on the circumstances surrounding a pinched or entrapped nerve, we may recommend either conservative or surgical treatment to provide relief.

In many cases, rest and preventing further aggravation to the affected area can provide an opportunity for recovery and release pressure on the nerve. A splint or brace may be recommended to immobilize the area and further aid recovery.

Other recommendations may include physical therapy, cortisone injections for more immediate relief of pain, and orthotic devices or braces to help relieve excess pressure and weight from the area.

Cases that are more severe or do not respond to conservative treatments may require the nerve to be released from its trapped state via surgery. A release may involve freeing the nerve from scar tissue or cutting away other tissue that may be compressing the nerve.
